Rich spent much of his youth playing Sensible Soccer, graduating to Sensible World of Soccer when he wanted to move into Management.

He joined the Foreign Legion in 1967 after watching Carry On.....Follow That Camel, but left after realising Kenneth Williams wasn't actually in charge. He spent a long time after that hitch hiking across Belarus and unofficially broke the record for longest time before being picked up when waiting on one road for 37 years.

He eventually parachuted back into Scotland with Rudolph Hess and started farming pygmies, to whom he would try out all his jokes that saw Stuart Dickenson’s Famous Five come calling.

In his spare time he paints lemons and teaches dogs to speak Native American.
